What an SEO audit is
An SEO audit is a structured review of your website against what search engines and customers need. A good audit does not dump a long list of warnings. It ranks the problems by impact, explains why each matters and says who should fix it. That is what we deliver.
What our free SEO audit checks
- Technical health: crawling, indexing, speed, mobile and security.
- On-page SEO: titles, headings, descriptions, content gaps and duplicate pages.
- Keywords: whether your pages match the searches your customers make.
- Links and authority: the quality of links and mentions you have compared with competitors.
- Local SEO: your Google Business Profile, reviews and directory listings.
- AI search: whether AI tools can read and cite your business.
SEO audit agency or free SEO audit tool?
Automated tools are useful for spotting errors fast, but they cannot judge your market, your content or what matters most for your business. Our SEO audit agency process combines tool data with human review, so you see the real priorities.
How the process works
You send your website address and tell us your main services and areas. We run the checks, review the findings and send a report in plain English with a prioritised plan. You can act on it yourself, give it to your developer or ask us to deliver it through our SEO services.
What you receive
A summary of what is working, a ranked list of fixes, estimated effort for each and a suggested order. We also note quick wins you can do this week, such as fixing a missing title or an unclaimed profile.
Who audits help most
Audits help businesses planning a redesign or migration, businesses whose traffic has fallen, new owners inheriting a site and anyone about to spend money on SEO who wants evidence first. See how it fits our SEO consultancy.
What happens during the audit
We start by confirming your goals: which services matter most, which areas you serve and what counts as a good enquiry. We then crawl the site, review Search Console and analytics data where available, check your Google Business Profile and compare your pages with those of the businesses ranking above you. We read the key pages as a customer would, noting what is clear, what is confusing and what is missing. Only after that do we write up findings, so the report reflects your business rather than a generic scan.
How we prioritise findings
An audit that lists two hundred issues is not helpful. We group findings into those that block indexing or enquiries, those that limit visibility and those that are minor. Each item states what is wrong, why it matters, how to fix it and how hard it is. This allows you or your developer to start with the changes that will matter most, even if you never hire us.
Typical problems audits uncover
- Pages accidentally blocked from search or missing from the sitemap.
- Several pages competing for the same keyword.
- Titles and descriptions that are missing, duplicated or unhelpful.
- Slow mobile pages caused by heavy images or scripts.
- A Google Business Profile with the wrong category or outdated details.
- No tracking for calls and forms, so results cannot be measured.
After the audit
You receive the report and a call to talk through it. From there you can fix the issues yourself, hand them to your developer, ask us to carry out the work or simply keep the report for later. There is no pressure to continue, and we will tell you plainly if your site is in better shape than you feared.
Audit types and when to use them
A general audit suits a business starting SEO or changing provider. A technical audit is best before a migration or when traffic drops suddenly. A content audit helps when you have a large blog or many old pages. A local audit focuses on map visibility for businesses with a physical presence or service area. Most small businesses benefit from a combined review, which our free audit provides, while larger or more complex sites may need a deeper paid engagement.
Questions about SEO audits
Is the audit really free? Yes, there is no charge and no obligation to buy anything. How long does it take? Usually a few working days, depending on the size of the site. Do you need passwords? No. We can work from the public site, and ask for read-only access to analytics or Search Console only if you want deeper findings. Can I share the audit with my developer? Of course. It is written to be acted on by whoever manages your site.
Using the audit to compare providers
If you are speaking to several SEO companies, ask each for an audit and compare them. Good ones are specific to your site, show evidence and explain priorities. Weak ones are generic, filled with automated scores and offer little guidance on what to do. A fair audit helps you choose confidently even if you do not choose us.
Repeating the audit
Sites change, so a periodic check is useful. Many businesses review annually or after major updates, new services or redesigns. We can repeat the process and show what has improved, which is helpful when reporting progress to a manager or board.
What the audit does not do
An audit shows where you stand and what to fix. It does not guarantee rankings, and it cannot replace the effort needed to carry out the improvements. It is also a snapshot: competitors, algorithms and your own site will change. That is why we explain which findings are urgent and which can wait, and why we suggest re-checking after a few months.
Making the most of the report
Read the summary first, then the top priorities. Share the technical section with your developer and the content section with whoever writes for your site. Note any questions before the follow-up call, and bring any reports from other providers so we can explain how they compare.
