What an AEO agency does
People increasingly want the answer, not a list of links. Featured snippets, People also ask boxes, voice assistants and AI answers all pull short answers from web pages. An AEO agency researches the questions your customers ask and makes sure your pages give clear, correct answers that these systems can use.
AEO services: how we work
- Question research: from search suggestions, People also ask, support emails and sales calls.
- Direct answers: a plain-English answer of one to three sentences near the top of the page.
- FAQ sections: real questions with honest, specific answers.
- Structured data: FAQ, Service and Organisation schema that matches visible content.
- Page structure: headings written as questions where it helps the reader.
AEO, GEO and SEO: how they relate
SEO gets your pages found, AEO makes the answer easy to lift and GEO makes your business easy for generative AI to cite. They share most of their foundations, so we plan them together. See our GEO services and SEO services.
Write answers people trust
An answer is only worth lifting if it is right. We ask for facts from your team, add real examples and name the people who wrote or checked the content. We avoid vague claims, because both readers and AI tools pass over them.
Good fits for AEO
AEO suits businesses where people ask questions before buying: professional services, healthcare, trades, finance, software and local services. Our industry pages show how we adapt it to each sector.
Measuring results
We track featured snippets and People also ask appearances, impressions on question-style searches in Google Search Console and mentions in AI tools. We also watch enquiries, since an answer that does not lead to a call or form fill is only a vanity win.
What answer engines reward
Answer engines try to give people a reply rather than a list of links. Google features, voice assistants and AI tools all draw from pages that state a clear answer, show where it comes from and keep it consistent with other sources. For a business, that means writing the exact question a customer might ask as a heading, answering it directly in the first sentence or two, and then supporting the answer with detail, evidence and a next step.
Question research
We collect questions from several places: search suggestions, People Also Ask boxes, your own sales and support enquiries, forums and reviews. We group them by customer stage, such as understanding a problem, comparing options and preparing to buy, then decide which deserve their own page and which fit on an existing one. A small number of well-chosen questions answered properly is more valuable than hundreds of thin pages.
How we write answers
- A direct answer first, usually in two or three sentences.
- Specific details such as prices where possible, timescales, requirements and exceptions.
- Plain wording a customer would use, with technical terms explained.
- Honest limits, including when the answer depends on the customer’s situation.
- A clear next step, such as booking a call or reading a related guide.
Structured data and page layout
Markup such as FAQ, organisation and service data helps machines read your pages, but it supports good content rather than replacing it. We use it where it describes what is genuinely on the page, test it for errors and keep it up to date. Layout matters too: short paragraphs, descriptive headings and lists make answers easy to lift accurately.
Keeping answers fresh
An answer that was right last year may now be wrong, particularly in areas such as tax, regulation, pricing or technology. We set review dates for important pages and update them, so assistants and searchers find current information. Showing the date of the last update also builds trust. For the wider approach see GEO services, AI SEO and professional SEO services.
A worked example of an answer page
Suppose a clinic wants to be found for the question “how long does a dental implant take?”. The page would put that question in a heading, answer in two sentences that the process often takes several months from consultation to final crown depending on healing and the individual, then explain the stages, what affects timing and when to speak to a dentist. It would include the dentist’s name and registration, a date of last review and a link to book. That mix of direct answer, evidence and next step is what answer engines look for.
Questions about AEO
Is AEO only for large brands? No. Smaller businesses often benefit because they can be the most specific and local source. How many questions should we answer? Start with the ten to twenty that matter most for sales, then expand. Will this affect my normal rankings? Clear, helpful answers generally support them. How often should answers be updated? At least annually, and more often for topics that change, such as regulation or pricing.
What AEO work includes each month
On an ongoing basis we review the questions that matter, draft or update answer pages, check structured data, monitor which answers appear in search features and assistants and flag any competitor changes. We also look at your own enquiries, because the best new questions often come from real customers. Each month you receive a short summary of pages published, answers improved and the results we can measure, along with proposed priorities for the following month.
Where AEO can go wrong
The common mistakes are answering questions nobody asks, copying generic text from competitors, using markup that does not match the page and leaving answers to go out of date. We avoid these by starting with real questions, writing from your experience, testing the markup and scheduling reviews.
Voice and conversational queries
People who speak their searches tend to use full questions and local phrases, such as who is open near me or how much does a service cost in a particular town. Writing in natural language, naming places and giving specific facts makes your pages more suitable for these queries. We check how your key questions sound when spoken aloud and adjust wording that reads well on screen but poorly in conversation.
Start with an audit
Our free SEO audit shows where your pages already answer questions well and where competitors are taking the answer instead.
